Have you heard of “Meatless Mondays?” Go to www.meatlessmonday.com and learn about this rapidly growing trend.  The benefits of reducing ones meat consumption are many and include reduced chances of cancer, diabetes, reducing heart disease, and obesity.  In addition, there are tremendous environmental benefits including greenhouse gas emissions reduction, minimizing water usage, and reducing fossile fuel dependence.  I have no desire to become 100 percent vegetarian — but these past few years I have consciously reduced red meat dishes and replaced with fish, chicken and turkey.  In addition, I use tofu, make lots of hummus, and adore a great lentil salad.  (Lentils contain the highest protein of any legume).  With so many alternative sources of protein available, I’m happy to say that going meat-free one, two or even three days a week is a lot easier (and tastier) than I had imagined!

The Yard House has an entire menu devoted to Gardein meatless products and any burger on their menu (of which there are many) can be substituted with the Gardein “ultimate beefless burger.”

Morgan Marketing is having fun with “Meatless Mondays.”  Today, our lunch consisted of a variety of tasty vegetarian menu items from The Yard House. We sampled the Gardein Spicy Thai Pizza ($12.95); Gardein Penne Pasta ($15.95); Gardein BBQ Chicken Salad ($14.25); Gardein Avocado Swiss Burger ($11.65); Gardein Thai Salad ; and the Gardein Orange Peel dish.

My personal favorites were the pizza and Thai Salad — loved the perfect “spice bite” that each dish had.

Gardein (garden + protein) is a line of delicious meat-free foods that are healthier versions of everyday foods.

Gardein is a new Morgan Marketing & Public Relations client and I am having fun taste testing their products.  Gardein has many products which I’ll be writing about in upcoming blogs.  They can be found in the frozen dept of your local grocery store including Ralph’s, Von’s, Whole Foods, Albertson’s — practically every grocery store except Walmart.

Stay tuned for more vegetarian dishes as I continue my commitment to Meatless Mondays (and other days of the week!).
