Amongst the macarons and cupcakes, the bundt cake is taking a stand and it’s here to stay. Originally from Las Vegas, Nothing Bundt Cakes is the creation of Dena Tripp and Debra Shwetz. Back in 1997, the idea was simple – use pure ingredients in their creative recipes and inspire however the cakes became a success and today, they’re a franchise and recently made their debut in Orange County.
I had an opportunity to try these wondrous delights at a tasting event held at The District in Tustin. The morsel of white chocolate raspberry goodness stayed with me so I recently visited their Costa Mesa location and purchased a dozen “bundtinis” which are basically bite size versions of their other cakes and just perfect. I chose the lemon, red velvet, chocolate chip, and white chocolate raspberry. My favorite remains the white chocolate raspberry. I’m not a big fan of fruit filled anything however the white chocolate cake infused with raspberry puree had me begging for more even though I’m a chocolate girl. Another bonus is their icing. Unlike most bakeries, it’s not sweet and just right.
If you have yet to try these fancy creations, there are currently three OC locations – Costa Mesa, Mission Viejo, and Tustin/Irvine (at The District). Make your way down and see what all the fuss is about.
