A few days ago I was invited to a taste of what Knott’s Berry Farm has in store for visitors in terms of eating options. New items have been introduced and here are some of the things you can expect to find at the outlets at the park.
Chicken Kabob Sandwich ($12.99) are succulent chunks of chicken marinated and served on a roll with lettuce, pepper, onion, tomatoes and a home made tzatziki sauce. Served with crispy fries and a fountain drink.
Black Bean Burger ($13.49) is one of the vegetarian offerings. A spicy black bean patty served with mayo, melted Provolone and fried onions. Served with your choice of French fries, mashed potatoes or green salad.
Hawaiian Ahi Poke ($11.99) is a nice ethnic touch to the usual things you’ll find at a park. Sashimi grade tuna, green onions, avocado, sesame vinaigrette and wasabi cream on a wonton wrapper is pretty good and I would order this if I wanted something different.
Now for my favorites of the evening: Slow Cooked Ribs ($11.99) available at Fireman’s Brigade BBQ located in Ghost Town offers ribs slow smoked for 11 hours, then grilled and basted with a home made BBQ sauce, served with garlic toast and baked potato. The ribs are flavorful and fall off the bone tender. A great option if you’re a rib lover.
The Coasters Cheeseburger ($13.99) from Coasters, located next to Xcelerator on the Boardwalk was a very tasty burger. The jalapeno chips on the burger not only added a bit of heat to the burger, but it was all around a very delicious burger.
Mrs Knott’s Chicken ($16.90) uses a 78 year old recipe and is definitely some awesome fried chicken. Chicken is moist and seasoned perfectly and I went back for more. This was my favorite of the night. The meal is served with your choice of soup, salad or cherry rhubarb, sweet corn or seasoned cabbage, homemade biscuits, mashed potatoes with gravy and your choice of boysenberry or apple pie with vanilla ice cream or sherbet. What a deal!
At Ghost Town Grub located across from the General Store, Funnel Cakes “Fully Loaded” ($10.99) is an original funnel cake with vanilla soft serve ice cream and your choice of strawberry, apple or boysenberry topping. The funnel cake is crispy with a hint of powdered sugar and a great way to top off your meal and best shared with friends as it is a HUGE portion.
Also available are pizzas, deli sandwiches, Hawaiian Ahi poke, Meatball Sandwich and for the vegetarian, Black Bean Burger.
