Just like an Italian grandmother’s kitchen is the heart and soul of a family home, Cosmo’s Italian Kitchen has become the heart and soul of South County diners seeking out authentic, home-style favorites.
For 10 years now (the restaurant will celebrate its anniversary in November), owners Dick Fisher and Bob Quinn have been nurturing the growth of Cosmo’s by serving such Italian classics as homemade ravioli and other pastas, gnocchi and pizza, as well as a pleasing variety of fresh meat and seafood entrées. And on the Specialita Della Casa menu: Chicken Gremolata, a grilled breast of chicken seasoned with garlic, capers, herbs and fresh tomatoes; and Top Sirloin Florentine, a choice cut of beef that’s pan-seared, then sliced and served over sautéed wild mushrooms, fresh Roma tomatoes and spinach.
But the restaurant’s contribution to the community goes way beyond food. The team at Cosmo’s has helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for schools, charities and other local causes through the years.
“Bob and I had both been in corporate restaurant careers and wanted to do something different, something that reflected our personalities and our values,” says Fisher. “The basis of our concept was and is homemade Italian food served in a family and neighborhood atmosphere by people who truly care about their guests. Over the years, we realized that the bonds that we were creating with our crew and our guests were very special and important. Cosmo’s became like a home in the neighborhood, where people were recognized and greeted just like you would in your own home.”
