As I stumbled across Veronese Café and Gallery, hidden by the foliage and flowers of its garden, I wondered whether it was a residence or my destination. Once inside, the peaceful atmosphere and artwork assured me this café would be the perfect Sunday night treat. Seeking an artistic alternative to Starbucks, this spot is ideal for a late-night latte that surpasses the average coffee house. After scoping out the menu and art gallery, I realized this cozy Korean-influenced eatery offers all the necessities, ranging from grilled paninis accompanied by a glass of wine to an after-dinner Korean tea and dessert. The relaxing melody of Jack Johnson perfectly complemented the eatery's environment. Feeling the soothing vibe of this modern café-gallery, I chose the Soojong tea, a thick and flavorful drink full of orange peels, which, according to the menu, assists in decongesting and calming the body. For dessert I dabbled in the strawberry shaved ice, which exceeded my expectations. This heaping bowl full of strawberry-flavored shaved ice, recommended for at least two, was topped with fresh fruit and delicious strawberry ice cream. After enjoying my solo experience, I left eager to return with company for another visit, for it would be a shame to keep this restaurant rarity a secret.
