Mrs. Knott's Restaurant in Buena Park celebrates 75 years

The O.C. Historical Landmark kicks off the festivities with a rededication on June 13.

June, 2009

Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant in Buena Park is kicking off its 75th anniversary celebration with a rededication of its designation as an Orange County Historical Landmark on June 13.

In 1934, Walter Knott asked his wife Cordelia to expand her little tea room on their farm and add chicken, biscuits, mashed potatoes and rhubarb to her petite menu.

The tea room – which is now known as the famous Mrs. Knott’s Restaurant – became a catalyst for the 185-acre vacation destination with a theme park, water park and hotel.

The rededication ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. at the restaurant. But the eatery is also holding a number of other events throughout the month of June to celebrate its success.
