Four O.C. chefs cook up cuisine for culinary students

The fundraising event takes place on Sept. 23 at The Winery Restaurant & Wine Bar in Tustin.

Four celebrated chefs from some of Orange County’s most beloved restaurants will contribute their unique styles to the first fundraiser dinner for The Winery Culinary Arts Scholarship Fund on Sept. 23. The Orange County Celebrity Chefs Culinary Arts Scholarship event will be held at The Winery Restaurant & Wine Bar at The District in Tustin.

The fund was created to help support students in the Orange Coast College culinary arts program. And it's no wonder the institution's students are garnering attention: OCC’s cooking teams have won the state championships eight times in the last nine years and have won the western regional titles five times since 1997. The culinary arts program had an exemplary year in 2005; OCC’s team won the national championship against three other teams from around the country.

"Although we have contributed to numerous nonprofits, this event will allow us to bring together the best chefs in the region to raise significant funds that will help five students who are pursuing degrees in the field of Culinary Arts,” says The Winery's managing partner, JC Clow.

He believes the partnership between OCC and the fund will help make an impact on these youths who are working to further their education.

The team of chefs extraordinaire will consist of Yvon Goetz, executive chef and partner at The Winery; Pascal Olhats, executive chef and owner of Tradition by Pascal and Brasserie Pascal; Andrew Sutton, executive chef at Napa Rose; and Rob Wilson, executive chef at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel.

The event will begin with a cocktail and champagne reception, followed by a six-course dinner. Wine pairings matched to each course will complete the gourmet dining experience.

The Orange County Celebrity Chefs Culinary Arts Scholarship fundraiser will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 2647 Park Ave. The reception, dinner and wine pairing cost $155 per person. Space is limited, and reservations can be made by contacting Rochelle Segobia at 714.258.7600 or via e-mail at rochelle@thewineryrestaurant.net.
