The Olde Ship British Pub in Santa Ana celebrates 10 years

The Olde Ship British Pub and Restaurant in Santa Ana will be celebrating its 10th anniversary on July 17 with drinks, raffles and even live music from the classic rock band Southbound.

The eatery, which specializes in British pub fare, opened its first location in Fullerton in 1993, followed by the Santa Ana store in 2000.

And owner Simon Collier – who called 2010 a "banner year" – is proud of the restaurant's British roots.

“It’s a state of mind and that alone sets it apart from any other eating and drinking establishment," said Collier, who took over the restaurant after his father, founder Doug Collier, passed away in 1996. "It is a place where relaxation, stimulation and conversation are the order of the day.”

The nearly all-British staff is the principle cause of the pub’s charming atmosphere, proving the pub’s catch phrase: “You’ll be a stranger here but once.”

The restaurant offers selections such as prime rib, Yorkshire pudding, fish and chips, and Sticky-Toffee Pudding, as well as 20 beers on tap and more than 20 single malts.

"We are looking forward to a fun celebration on July 17h and hope that many of our regulars as well as some first-time visitors will help us celebrate and find out why they’ll be a stranger here but once!” said Collier.

The celebration kicks off at 8 p.m., with live music at 8:30. The Olde Ship's Santa Ana store is located at 1120 W. 17th St.
