Sapphire Laguna adds 'Street Foods of America' to menu

Offerings feature seven dishes that reflect different cultures in the U.S.

BY Taylor Fallon
July, 2010

Azmin Ghahreman, chef and owner of Sapphire Laguna, is bringing a new offering to the eatery: "Street Foods of America." The selection is a new version of the eatery's Spice Plates menu and features street-food selections influenced by different cultures across the country.

The menu features an assortment of dishes, including New Orleans' Jumbo Shrimp Boil with sweet corn butter and Creole mayo; Chicago-inspired Greek Octopus Salad with oregano-basil dressing; or the Saikyo Miso Marinated Salmon and Japanese Eggplant from New York.

The eatery is also offering an "American classic with a twist" – a Steamed Kobe Cheeseburger with spicy mayonnaise and homemade pickles.

Additionally, each Spice Plate can be paired with Sapphire's signature cocktails, or the eatery's global beer and wine selections – 37 of which are served by the glass starting at $8.

Plates range in price from $6.50 to $8.50 and are available nightly from 4 to 8 p.m. Sapphire Laguna is located at 1200 South Pacific Coast Hwy.

The steamed Kobe Cheeseburger is to die for! I'm hungry just thinking about it! Many Laguna localesa order it to go through Sapphire Laguna's Pantry next door to the restaurant. Major yum!
