In a pizza box, freshly made, and piping hot you’ll find what I like to call the blueberry wonder. People line up for hours at M&M Donuts in Anaheim for a blueberry donut. I’ve been hearing about this hype but had yet to try it for myself. What donut could be worth waiting for?

While out catching a movie at The Block with a friend, we were tempted by the “hot doughnut” sign at Krispy Kreme. I’m not a fan of these light glazed donuts but I was in the mood for a donut, any donut. And the thought struck us. Hey, we’re up here anyway so why not ditch this place and head out to M&M. The shop opens at 9pm and we were luckily first in line because honestly I wouldn’t wait in line for these. Don’t get me wrong though. They’re good but not worth waiting in line and quite frankly I just don’t do lines unless I can’t help it.

However do believe the hype. The artificial blueberry flavor is too good to be true. The aroma is divine, the crust fries up nice and crisp, yet the donut is velvety moist on the inside. There is a light glaze yet it’s not too sweet. It would be paired perfectly with a full bodied cup of coffee, hot chocolate, or even an ice cold glass of milk. However it has to be served hot but the donut will still hold up the next day so don’t be afraid to order a few more for breakfast or a snack later. Reheat for a few seconds in the microwave and you’ll be in heaven again.

The blueberry wonder is one for the books and just another notch on my foodie belt.
