This year marks the 50th anniversary of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®, the iconic specialty coffee and tea retailer born and brewed in Southern California since 1963. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has close to 900 stores situated across 25 countries, with 22 locations in Orange County.

In 1963, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® opened its first store location in Brentwood, CA. The company’s dedication to finding and serving the best coffee and tea in the world has made the brand the leading private retailer of gourmet coffee in California.

Now, nearly 50 years later, the company has made major strides across the U.S. and internationally, and has grown into one of the largest privately-owned, family-run coffee and tea companies in the world. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® has become the standard for a successful coffee and tea retailer and continues its search across the globe for only the finest and rarest teas and premium coffees.

Today, they proudly offer more than 25 varieties of coffee and more than 20 kinds of tea. Over the years, The Coffee Bean has worked hard to build relationships with individual farms and estates so that they can be assured of the best coffee and tea harvests available. Their coffee is roasted fresh daily in small batches in a manual European roast style, then packed using state-of-the-art equipment for shipment in their own roasting facility (in Camarillo, CA) and delivered fresh to their stores.

The company is made up of a small pool of incredibly talented and dedicated people who are true experts in their respective fields including CEO Mel Elias,  David De Candia, Master Tea Blender (and certified tea specialist) and Jay Isais, the Director of Coffee.

Additionally, the brand’s dedicated charity programs are really there to make a difference ranging from supplying troops with coffee/tea overseas via Support From Home, or the Caring Cup Program which helps build infrastructure and growth to the various family-run tea estates and coffee farms in Costa Rica, Sri Lanka, and China supporting communities and generations of families of over 50,000 people with the building and infrastructure of new schools for the children, medical health care facilities, and local partnerships.
