child_cookingDoes your kid have what it takes to have their own Food Network Show or compete on Iron Chef?

If your child possesses precocious talents in the kitchen and has a stunning personality to boot, a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond may be in his/her future courtesy of award-winning chef/restaurateur Zov Karamardian.

The two-time cookbook author is launching a contest whereby budding chefs 12 and under are encouraged to record themselves preparing a dish (no more than 3 minutes), upload it onto YouTube then forward the link to

Five finalists and their families will be selected to attend an awards ceremony at Zov’s Neighborhood Cafés & Bar in Newport Coast whereby top food critics and journalists will name the winning video.   Finalists must attend ceremony to win.

Zov launched her Kid Chef Search last year with the underlying purpose of teaching children about healthy eating.  She is doing her part to teach kids about how to use fresh ingredients, becoming familiar with fruits & vegetables and knowing what it takes to create a dish instead of just nuking it or unwrapping cellophane.

If you are interested in donating to Zov’s Kid Chef Scholarship program, call 714-838-8855 for more information.

“Last year’s event was such a success we wanted to replicate it,” recalled Zov.  “We are looking forward to seeing what talent we uncover this year.”
